About Us
Insurance Policy Authority — Making Insurance Easier to Understand
Insurance Policy Authority was created around a simple idea: people should be able to understand insurance before they are expected to make decisions about it.
Insurance can be complicated. Coverage types overlap, policy language can be difficult to interpret, requirements vary by state, and price alone rarely tells the whole story. Insurance Policy Authority brings that information together in a more structured and understandable way.
Our goal is to help consumers learn how insurance works, understand the choices in front of them, and approach those choices with greater confidence.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make insurance information useful.
That means going beyond definitions and explaining how coverage, limits, deductibles, pricing factors, state requirements, and other insurance decisions work together.
We develop structured guides, state and local resources, articles, and comparison tools designed to help consumers move through the insurance process—from learning the fundamentals to evaluating available options.
We believe better insurance decisions begin with better information.
How Insurance Policy Authority Works
Different visitors come to Insurance Policy Authority at different stages.
Some are trying to understand a particular type of coverage. Others are researching insurance requirements or costs in their state. Some already understand what they need and are ready to compare available insurance options.
Our resources are designed to support each of those stages.
Learn
Our guides and educational resources explain insurance concepts in straightforward language, including coverage types, limits, deductibles, pricing factors, and policy considerations.
Research
Our state, local, and topic-specific resources help consumers investigate questions that may depend on where they live or the insurance decision they are considering.
Evaluate
Our content is designed to help consumers understand the tradeoffs between different coverage decisions rather than focusing on price alone.
Compare
When consumers are ready to explore available auto insurance options, Insurance Policy Authority also provides insurance request tools that can help connect their requests with insurance providers, agencies, or other insurance-related partners that may be able to respond.
Consumers are free to use our educational resources without submitting an insurance request.
What We Cover
Insurance Policy Authority is developing resources across three major areas of personal insurance:
Auto Insurance
Our most comprehensive resource area. IPA provides an in-depth Auto Insurance Guide, state and local insurance resources, supporting articles, and tools for consumers who are ready to explore available auto insurance options.
Homeowners Insurance
Our homeowners insurance resources explain important concepts involving property coverage, personal belongings, liability, deductibles, exclusions, and other considerations that can affect homeowners coverage.
Life Insurance
Our life insurance resources focus on understanding coverage types, policy considerations, and the factors consumers may evaluate when considering financial protection for the people who depend on them.
Our resources will continue to develop as Insurance Policy Authority expands its coverage of insurance topics and consumer questions.
Our Approach
We believe useful insurance information should be clear, structured, and transparent.
Our approach is built around a few principles:
-
Explain before comparing. Price is more meaningful when you understand the coverage behind it.
-
Give context, not just definitions. Insurance decisions often involve tradeoffs, and those tradeoffs deserve explanation.
-
Separate education from obligation. You can use IPA to research insurance without submitting your personal information or requesting insurance options.
-
Be transparent about commercial relationships. Insurance Policy Authority may receive compensation from insurance-related businesses, lead buyers, referral partners, marketplaces, or other commercial partners.
-
Keep improving the information. Insurance markets, requirements, products, and consumer questions change, and our resources should evolve with them.
Our Independence
Insurance Policy Authority is owned and operated by Global A.L.M. Ventures LLC.
IPA is not an insurance carrier, agency, or broker and does not itself issue insurance policies.
We may establish commercial relationships with insurance providers, agencies, marketplaces, lead buyers, and other insurance-related organizations. Those relationships can include compensation for consumer requests, leads, referrals, calls, clicks, advertising, or other arrangements.
Commercial relationships do not determine what insurance coverage is appropriate for an individual consumer, and we do not guarantee that every insurance provider or option available in a consumer's market will be represented through IPA.
For additional information about how insurance requests may be handled, please review our Insurance Partners disclosure.
Our Commitment to Readers
Insurance Policy Authority is built for people who want to understand what they're buying—not simply be told what to buy.
We aim to make complicated insurance subjects easier to navigate, organize information in a way that supports real decisions, and provide a clear path forward when a consumer is ready to move from research to comparison.
Whether you're learning about insurance for the first time, reviewing existing coverage, researching insurance in your state, or preparing to compare options, our goal is the same:
Help you understand the decision before you make it.
A Friendly Reminder
Insurance Policy Authority provides general insurance information and educational resources. We are not licensed insurance agents or brokers, and our content is not a substitute for individualized advice from a licensed insurance professional.
Insurance requirements, availability, pricing, policy terms, and individual circumstances vary. Before purchasing, changing, or canceling insurance coverage, review the actual policy terms and consult an appropriately qualified insurance provider or professional when necessary.
